Originally from England, (although he’s more at home in Amsterdam, Holland where he’s lived for 14 years now), he has the seemingly inborn sense of pop songwriting, tipping the hat to The Beatles, Elvis Costello via Paul Weller, Billy Bragg & Suzanne Vega to David Gray & Beth Orton. Luke is a talented composer, pianist, guitarist and singer as well as having a strong technical side which helped him in single-handedly creating this CD.
His musical history winds past his first locally popular band, Bla, Blah, Blar, via gigging around Europe with Cindy Peress, playing in various bands, on the radio and in competitions, to realising that what he always returned to was writing songs. From that moment on he worked on his own material, honing his skills whilst writing over 200 songs, and playing solo gigs, captivating audiences with his gentle manner and warm stage presence.
The latest CD from Luke Nyman ’Man in a Box’ is a collection of 13 self-penned songs written since the new millennium. Having wrestled with which form the CD should take, he finally realised he could let it be heard in it’s most direct & original form; solo acoustic.
